Being connected: What does being connected actually mean?
It means going through your day by interacting with others. Looking them in the eye. Understanding where they are coming from. Living life with a purpose. Making the most of each day and seizing the opportunity within each moment that you are experiencing to make a difference in your life and the lives of others. No matter what differences we may have with others, we are all connected. Let's look at 3 simple ways we are all connected:
1. We are all human and from the same planet (or most of us...)
2. We all face the same challenges in life. How we earn money, relationships, traffic, weather, etc...
3. We all are responsible for our physical appearance. In shape, out of shape, exercise interests, etc...
Staying connected: Did you read the post about The Emotional Bank Account? Staying connected is exactly as it sounds. Stay in touch with your friends, family, and business contacts. One of my goals for staying connected is to speak with my immediate family daily, my siblings and parents at least every 2 weeks, my close friends at least once a month, and my extended family at least twice a year, Aunt's, Uncle's, etc... Staying connected allows me to keep track of what is going on in everyone's lives and maintain a healthy positive relationship. It is also a good time to encourage and support your friends and family with the obstacles we all face.
Improving connections: As a relationship grows with time, it also grows with the added value you receive from it. Improving your connections will happen over time as you are investing in your connections by spending more time, helping others out, and "connecting." The stronger your connections in life, the more fulfilling, rewarding, and exciting life can be. Also, the more connections you have, the more opportunities will come your way.
Making new connections: It is also good to continue to develop new connections. New friends, new business contacts, etc... Make a new connection. Invite a neighbor over for dinner or to a BBQ you haven't ever spent any time with, take a friend out to lunch you may have just met. Befriend others while on vacation. You will be suprised at how much you may have in common with everyone you meet if you take the time to make some new connections.
Unlock your potential.
Make new connections, improve your current connections.
We are all from the same planet.
We can all make a difference and make this world a better place.
As Gandhi once said, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world..."
Until next time...
